This is your opportunity to support youth with behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges as they strive to learn. Spurwink is hiring Ed. Tech. III to collaborate with teachers and become an integral part of our special needs classrooms.

Seeking enthusiastic individuals that love young children and want to be a part of the early intervention that can make a lifelong difference in a child’s life! We are a therapeutic preschool program that provides school-based services for children, ages 3-5, with Autism and complex developmental challenges. The job is fast paced, active, different every day and rewarding beyond measure. We provide a supportive team-oriented environment, collaborative approach to treatment, ongoing training, the opportunity to play and laugh at work as well as countless opportunities for your creativity to shine!

We are hiring Ed. Tech. IIIs to work 1:1 with students to implement plans that teach communication, social, emotional, cognitive, and self-help skills to children. Ed. Tech. IIIs work in collaboration with Special Education Teachers, Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists to support all aspects of children’s development. Behavioral Health Professional (BHP) training is provided upon hire.

This is a full-time position spanning the regular school year. A week-long paid orientation training is provided upon hire.

The schedule is 7:30am – 3:30pm and this position pays between $20.00-$24.00 per hour based on experience and other job criteria.

DUTIES:

  1. Work 1:1 with students diagnosed with Autism and Developmental Disorders in the preschool classroom setting.
  2. Teach targeted skills in the areas of communication, social interaction, play, emotional regulation, self-help/adaptive and cognitive skills.
  3. Implement educational and behavioral treatment plans throughout the school day.
  4. Assist in tasks required to manage the classroom environment and promote student learning.
  5. Collect and record data on progress and complete required paperwork to document services daily.
  6. Collaborate with BCBAs, Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists around interventions, progress and the ongoing challenges of students.
  7. Participate in regular supervision and debriefing meetings (both team and individual).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Our Ed Tech III must have, or be eligible for, Maine Department of Education Educational Technician III certification by having earned a bachelor’s degree (preferred) or by having earned a minimum of 90 college credits (required).
